Building Community

Since 1921, Alpha Theta has welcomed passionate and strong-willed members into our Fraternity. Founded by a group of young and courageous women who took a leap of faith to form this chapter, our hope is to keep their legacy alive for generations to come.
We encourage intellectual growth and success by offering alumni networking opportunities and a variety of events throughout the year, which encourage bonding between members and help create a foundation of lasting friendships.

Philanthropy

Our philanthropy is breast cancer awareness, education, and research. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer; which is why we are committed to raising funds and spreading awareness so that one day we might be able to diminish this disease.

Each year, Alpha Theta hosts events to raise awareness, educate our peers, and raise money for breast cancer research. You might find us handing out pink ribbons around campus, running in a 5k, or in Elliot Hall at our main event, Big Man on Campus!

Sisterhood

The purpose of Zeta Tau Alpha is the intensifying of friendship, the fostering of a spirit of love, the creating of such sentiments, the performing of such deeds, and the moulding of such opinions as will be conducive to the building up of a purer and nobler womanhood in the world.

More than 257,000 women have been initiated into the sisterhood of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity since its founding on Oct. 15, 1898, at the Virginia State Female Normal School in Farmville, Virginia. Our Founders envisioned an organization that would perpetuate their ties of friendship.
