Fighting Systemic Racism

Updated: Aug 23, 2020

"As Zetas, our Creed calls us to have 'devotion to the Right, the Good, and the True.' To live up to that call, we stand against racism, bigotry and violence. We promote and celebrate diversity, inclusion, and acceptance." - Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity

We Must Do Better

Alpha Theta stands by our promise to "Do Better." On June 25, our chapter created an Inclusion Committee that is creating programs designed to educate our chapter and foster discussion on the topics of inclusion, diversity, discrimination, and systemic racism. In the past, these were topics that we as a chapter, a community, and a nation often chose not to discuss. We realize by remaining silent, we were a part of the problem.

Taking Action

We recognize that these actions alone are not enough, but they are the fist step in fostering change within our organization and the Purdue community. We pledge to hold our members accountable and strive to make change. We took time as a chapter to create an action plan to ensure that none of our current and future sisters face microaggressions or racism in our house. You can follow along with our action plan and its progress under the Inclusion tab.

We know we have a long way to go, but we are determined to make an active difference in our community.

Zeta Love,

Alpha Theta
